BIOL 303

Introductory Developmental Biology and Embryology

Fundamental processes and concepts in embryonic development including the acquisition of multicellularity, organization of the early embryo, morphogenesis of tissues, major organ systems, fetal membranes, growth, differentiation and analysis of common developmental defects.

The course seems intimidating at first, but JUST focus on the MAIN concepts...can't stress that enough! If you are confident on the main topics, its not hard writing the essay midterms and exam Once I got used to the format, things weren't too bad

This course had an unbelievable amount of content to know. There was one midterm and a final and I believe there was an opportunity for some bonus marks. But basically don't do what I did and you'll be set. So he gives you extra practice/study questions that correspond to the material of each lecture, use them since they're repeated on tests. The study questions guide you to what is important and if you try to answer them at the end of each week you save yourself at the end of the term because I can't stress enough how much info is in this class. He tests right from his slides so memorize everything but don't leave it to last minute. Also because we look at so many different organisms, be able to compare and contrast all of their different stages because I guarantee you he will put those questions on the test. It's not just good enough to know stuff barely in this course or you'll get a 50 (if you're lucky). Know your shit well enough to recite it. And if you're lucky like I was, find a friend and share a onenote drive when studying so you can both add to the review notes and hopefully for the one (all) classes that you fell asleep during, they paid attention

This courses is a very hard course with a lot of details. The BEST way to do well 80+ is taking it with dragana miscovic, she give u 70% of the midterm and final GUARANTEED questions!

Pretty nasty course. The class average for the midterm was hardly a pass (52%) and the final wasn't much better. Lots of information, many details, and even if you focus on the main concepts, it's a pretty nasty course. Only take it if you have to!!!
