PSYCH 256

Introduction to Cognitive Science

Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of mind and intelligence. This course will draw on philosophy, psychology, artificial intelligence, linguistics, neuroscience, and anthropology to address central questions about the nature of thinking. Topics discussed will include mental representation, computational models of mind, and consciousness.

Distance education course. There are weekly reading assignments, forum discussions and "blog entries" to complete. There is also a "take-home midterm" 7-9 page essay that you need to complete over 2 days. There is also another essay to write at the end of the course. To finish it off, there is a final exam as well. The amount of reading for this course is pretty heavy!
