Systematic mineralogy: study of the physical properties of the major rock-forming minerals; their identification, classification and occurrence. Introduction to crystallography; elements of symmetry and the interrelationship of crystal structure to the physical and chemical properties of minerals. Taughed by Jen Parks. Lab quizzes with one field trip to Bancroft. One report and presentation due at the end of term. Lab examinations also. Stuff is pretty new and midterm was good.

I took this course and after sometimes I got sick of studying rocks. Its a bore. It's my opinion though. If you like rocks and are more interested in the details the give this class a shot. Pretty interesting material. Trip was 1 night over stay in Bancroft which was wonderful. I dread the presentation though
