ENGL 101A

Intro to Literary Studies

An introduction to the study of literature, covering such areas of inquiry as literary history, genre, criticism, analysis, and theory.

In this course you learn about basic classic novels such as 'The Odyssey', 'Beowulf', 'Dr. Faustus', and a few others. You also get to dissect a few poems written in early English. There are 2 essays in this class where you compare some of the readings and a given theme. Some of the lectures can get pretty boring as some of the topics are kinda dry. However, there is also a exam at the end of the course, the exam is pretty difficult if you don't go to class so make sure you somehow take notes. It is quite helpful to take sometime to review the course pack if you are assigned one.
