This course provides a historical survey of texts for children, mainly literary but including also films and picture books. In particular it explores the emergence of the various genres (e.g. poetry, fantasy stories, domestic novels, tales of adventure, animal stories and problem narratives) and traces their development from their origins, generally in the Victorian period, through to our own times. The growth of children?s film is also considered, and critical and educational issues connected with all these texts are examined and discussed. BASICALLY you read material that you read as a child, E.G fairytales by Hans Christian Anderson and books like Matilda, the Hobbit and The lion the witch and the wardrobe. P.s There are movies for most the books. EASIEST CLASS EVER. I RELIVED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ALL OVER AGAIN.
