An introductory survey of basic areas of psychology including perception, cognition, learning and motivation and their biological substrata. Also reviewed are child development, individual differences, social psychology and behaviour disorders. Research participation experience is provided for students on an individual voluntary basis. Students are encouraged to participate in up to five hours of research experimentation.
SUCH an easy course if you actually do your reading! Easy mark, again, if you know how to study properly. TIP: Don't take it in first year, you will do badly because you won't know what you're doing. In upper years, easiest 90 ever!!

A lot of reading & memorization. Not a bird course, for a student in mostly arts courses this is probably a great course to challenge yourself and include a science based course but for a science student taking chem, bio, physics, calc, etc. I would not recommend taking this course unless you intend on pursuing psychology/life science. Take an easier gpa-boosting course :) |

I finished this course with an A. Many people struggle in it but I found it to be fairly easy for a science student. You can get free participation marks which is always nice but most marks come from the exams. There is a lot of memorization |

It would be much better except for the fact that there are TAs marking with value judgements who barely speak English. Do yourself a favour and if you don’t need this course, don’t take it. If you really want a psych credit, do a letter of permission elsewhere online. This course SUCKS. The assignments take hours and you end up with like 1% of your grade for the input. It just isn’t worth it! Add in that the TAs for the online block are basically exchange/international students desperate for a job... no thanks. I’m paying for an education in Canada, I’d hope the teaching staff speak the national languages. |

student101 - 2012-12-07 19:23:00 I took this course in 2010 it was 90% finals with online quizzes that were hard and random as shit. people do them in large groups which is probably easy, I did it as a pre drink on friday nights so I'm not a good gauge. However I crammed for both exams for about a day each and got 66 without going to a single class. |
pyzhou - 2009-07-04 18:52:33 compared to courses like biol 102/103, and chem 112, this is a joke. 1. read txtbook by urself over christmas / whenever u have time 2. stop going to class 3. get the 5% experiments bonus 4. 92 get!!!! |
jr01 - 2009-03-29 08:28:49 Most people don't get a good mark in this course and there's alot that you must study. NOT A BIRD COURSE! |
CRAZYBUBBA - 2007-04-19 11:40:09 This has a reputation to be one of the most difficult courses due to the large amount of information |
