PHYS 1902

From our Star to the Cosmos

Starting with the Sun, the course studies its composition and source of power, then compares our Sun with the other stars in the galaxy and beyond. Modern ideas concerning the structure, origin and evolution of the universe, pulsars and supernovae are examined. A 14-inch telescope is available for student use.

PRO. - Really easy course if you are interested in astronomy -Even if you are not, basic grade 12 knowledge of physics and chemistry will get you A- -Multiple choice midterms, exams and one essay to do in whole semester - Online quiz every week worth 10% of final mark. If you can't find answer in the textbook just copy and paste in google - Around 40 to 50 percent of the midterm and exam will be from the online quizzes so never skip any quizzes or prof will not give you any answers( so if you don't feel like doing the quiz just submit without answering the questions so system will provide you right answers and that will help you study midterm and exam) - Can survive without going to class if you are good with last minute studies but never skip more than 3 in a row - Always attend Review classes, prof. will sum up sum up everything that will be on midterm and exam - Gets to use 14 inch telescope (really cool!!!) CON. - Class timing 7:30 - 9:00 PM FYI you do not need to take PHYS 1901 which is offered in fall PHYS 1901 is bit boring compared to PHYS 1902 because PHYS is all about history of the solar system and its planets (Assuming you will not attend all thee classes since its evening class and science elective it may get bit hard. Also only part of the midterms and exams will be multiple choice so you will have to memorize lots of information)
